Brushing Teeth: How Much is Too Much?
Cleaning your teeth is important. But, brushing too much can hurt your teeth.
This is called toothbrush abrasion. It happens if you brush a lot or very hard. Brushing hard or a lot can hurt tooth enamel. This can cause pain and make your gums pull back. Brushing right after eating can also hurt the tooth’s enamel.
Most dentists say to brush two to three times a day, but not more. They recommend to wait at least 30 minutes after eating before brushing. When you brush, to use a soft brush and make gentle circles.
